What kind of surfaces can this adhesive bond to?

This adhesive is suitable for bonding a wide variety of substrates, including plastics, metals and rubbers.
Does this adhesive have any harmful chemicals or strong smell?

No, it does not contain any harmful chemicals. It's very safe for use in most industrial applications. While there might be some smell associated with the product when initially opened, our customers usually find it to be quite mild.
Is this 1 gallon size sufficient enough for larger projects?

Yes! One gallon should cover approximately 150 square feet (5 mil thickness). If your project requires more than that you may want to consider purchasing multiple cans/cases or contact us - we're here to help!
How long does it take for the adhesive to dry completely and cure?

The drying time will depend on temperature and humidity levels among other factors but generally speaking the curing process takes anywhere from 24-72 hour depending on application amount applied.

3M™ Nitrile High Performance Plastic Adhesive 1099 is a strong adhesive that bonds to a variety of substrates, including leather, most vinyl sheeting used in awnings, upholstery, and faux leather, as well as plastics. However, it may stain thin or light-colored vinyls.

Speed Up the Bonding Process

3M™ Nitrile High Performance Plastic Adhesive 1099 is a fast-drying adhesive that forms a durable bond at room temperature. It also has an optional heat-initiated chemical reaction to achieve even higher bond properties. This adhesive is sprayable with industrial-grade spray equipment, making it convenient and consistent for large-scale applications.

Applying Your Adhesive

Whether it is being sprayed, brushed, or rolled on, the application of your 3M™ adhesive is a straightforward process. Start by carefully applying your adhesive to your surface until you've formed a uniform coat. Using an overlapping pattern, the application of one coat should prove sufficient for most surfaces. Effective adhesive coverage is accomplished when 80% or more of the surface is covered. Some substrates, including porous materials, may require an additional coat. In order to apply additional adhesive, simply wait until the existing adhesive becomes dry to the touch, and then proceed with the application of the additional coat.
