What is 3M's Scotch-Brite™ Star, 4 in A CRS LS used for?
Our Scotch-Brite™ Star, 4 in A CRS LS is a multi-purpose abrasive product that can be used on various surfaces. It is ideal for cleaning and finishing applications such as removing rust, scratches, and stains.
-
How many pieces of the product are there per package?

-
Is it long-lasting or will I need to buy more very soon?
Our Scotch-Brite™ products are designed with durability in mind. This particular model has a longer working life compared to traditional steel wool pads because it doesn't shed or break apart easily.
-
Can this product be washed and reused multiple times?
Yes! Many users report being able to use our products several times before needing a new one. The exact duration depends on how heavily it was used during the first round and how much residue remains after rinsing out the pad surface.
-
Is this safe to use on any type of surface without causing damage or scratching them up too bad?
When operated using recommended techniques by professionals from us , this product including all other abrasives may clean effectively without scratch away at surfaces like wood furniture or leather upholstery. However, we still recommend testing an inconspicuous area first just as precaution though.
Scotch-Brite™ Star is a unique abrasive product that has six spindles attached to an eyelet. The spindles are made with nonwoven technology, which makes them spongy, buoyant, and flexible. This allows them to bend and move to accommodate the insides of metal tubes and pipes. The abrasive comes in small sizes, ranging from 1-1/2 inches to 4 inches in diameter. The small size supplements the spongy spindles, helping the abrasive fit inside hard-to-reach areas. Scotch-Brite™ Star lightly deburrs and blends contours and ridges without gouging or marring the surface, which helps to reduce scraps and rework. It can be used on a variety of metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, titanium, and non-ferrous metals.
Ease of UseThe Scotch-Brite™ Star can be used with 3M mandrel 944 (sold separately). The threaded attachments fasten to mandrel 944 for safe use on a die grinder. Scotch-Brite™ Star requires low pressure when used at correct operating speeds. The abrasive is available in coarse (CRS) and very fine (VFN) grades. Use a coarse abrasive when refining a deep grind line/scratch or when a more aggressive scratch pattern is desired, and use a fine abrasive when a soft, fine scratch pattern is desired. Scotch-Brite™ Star comes in packs of 50 or 100 stars per case to minimize the need for ordering replacements and to help reduce operating costs.
The Many Benefits of Open Web AbrasivesScotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique due to their nonwoven technology. A combination of fiber strands, resin, and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity. Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life. Scotch-Brite products not only enhance productivity but also increase operator safety. By reducing the need for cleaning chemicals and pastes, and replacing wire brushes that can break off and cause injury. From aesthetic finishing to deburring and more, Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
