Scotch-Brite Clean and Strip Disc D2 aggressively cleans welds and removes paint, rust, and coatings without profiling or gouging the metal beneath. Extra coarse silicon carbide non-woven disc cuts fast, conforms to contours and leaves a fine finish.
- Removes paint, rust and coatings quickly without profiling or gouging the metal
- Two discs supply greater rigidity and more usable edge surface than single disc
- Durable non-woven web resists loading and heat so runs longer, delivers consistent results
- Spring-like action produces a smooth, burr-free surface
- Extra coarse grade silicon carbide cuts fast and leaves a finer finish than wire brushes
- Safer than wire brushes which can break and be propelled

PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Disc D2 made of?
The Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Disc D2 is made with a highly durable ceramic abrasive grain.
-
How efficient is this disc at removing rust, corrosion, paint or coatings?
This disc is very efficient in removing rust, corrosion, paint or coatings. It features an open web construction that resists loading and helps eliminate clogging.
-
Can the 4 in x 1 in x 1/4 in S XCS size be used for all types of surfaces?
Yes, this size can be used on all metal types including stainless steel as well as non-metallic surfaces like wood or plastic.
-
How long does one strip disc last if I am using it to grind off some stubborn rust spots on car wheels?
The lifespan of each disc varies depending on factors such as pressure applied while grinding/sanding and type of surface being worked upon. But you should typically expect to change discs periodically when they become worn out or stop performing efficiently.
-
Is there any particular usage guidance you would recommend for safe use during operation/ handling?
Be sure to always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) before operating power tools with abrasives – especially eye protection like goggles/shields. You may also want to refer to standard safety guidelines provided by your workplace/safety board etc., for best practices related to handling materials safely alongwith disposing them carefully after use.
The Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Disc D2 is an aggressive, non-woven disc made of fiber, resin, and silicon carbide. It is designed to remove rust, strip paint, and clean welds without removing metal. The disc is extremely durable and consists of two discs mounted on a common 1/4-inch shaft to fit portable tools. The greater edge surface is conformable, allowing it to clean hard-to-reach creases and dents.
The abrasive grains are bonded to and uniformly dispersed throughout a web of flexible nylon fiber. The "open weave" construction provides a continuous, fresh supply of cutting grain as fibers wear away during use, providing a consistent finish. The flexible "spring-like" design conforms to contours and corners and reduces the risk of undercutting or gouging the workpiece. The open web construction and aggressive abrasive properties provide a smooth running wheel that resists loading when removing soft coatings.
This product uses silicon carbide abrasive, which is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish.
Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are a unique surface conditioning product with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or other synthetic fibers. The spring-like nature of the resulting nonwoven abrasive is more responsive to contours and removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece. Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
