PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What makes 3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Resin 281 Part B unique?

The 3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Resin 281 Part B is a two-part polyurethane used in numerous electrical applications. It offers exceptional resistance to harsh environmental conditions and provides excellent electrical insulation once cured.

  2. How much product do I need for my project?

The amount of resin you will require depends on the specifics of your application. In general, we recommend that you determine this by calculating the volume of any void space in your enclosure or alternatively contacting our technical service team who can assist you with estimating the amount required.

  3. How long will it take for the resin to cure?

Curing time may vary depending on several factors such as temperature, humidity, and thickness applied. However under normal conditions when mixed correctly at room temperature (23°C) , part A & B have a pot life of about 12 minutes before gelation begins and they will be tack-free within approximately four hours after mixing.

3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Resin 281 is a high-quality electrical resin that is perfect for applications that require excellent thermal shock and mechanical shock resistance. This resin has a low gel point rating, which ensures a quick curing process when kept in warm environments. After curing, the resin exhibits a semi-flexible and good adhesion property, thanks to its high tensile strength. One of the best things about this resin is its high dielectric strength, which offers excellent electrical insulating property. Additionally, it has a high flash point, which helps prevent any fire hazard due to quick ignition. Another great feature of this resin is its hydrolytic stability property, which minimizes quick chemical decomposition, thus providing long-lasting usage. This makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications. Finally, it is important to note that this resin is Mil 16923 Certified and RoHS 2011/65/EU Compliant, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
