PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the main purpose of 3M’s Vibration Damping Tape 436?
The main function of 3M's Vibration Damping Tape 436, Silver, is to reduce vibrations and noise in order to improve vehicle comfort.
-
Is it efficient in reducing strong vibration that can damage sensitive equipment during transportation?
Yes, absolutely! With a unique viscoelastic polymer construction, this material effectively reduces vibration up to five times more than solid plastic and metal tapes. People trust using this tape for their delicate electronic equipment during transportation.
-
Can this tape be easily applied on any surface?
Definitely! This tape features an aggressive acrylic adhesive which provides good adhesion on various surfaces like metals, plastics or composite materials. Make sure you apply it only after the surface has been completely cleaned thoroughly for an effective bond.
-
. How long does one roll last?
. Each case consists of three rolls measuring four inches by thirty-six yards each (4” x 36 yd). The longevity varies depending upon frequency and amplitude levels as well as temperature conditions - if used properly; one roll should last for approximately several months at least under normal circumstances.
3M™ Vibration Damping Tape 436 is a 17.5 mil thick, silver, dead soft aluminum foil tape. It is designed to reduce noise and absorb and dissipate vibration, primarily by reducing structure-borne noise in metal and composite panels and support structures. It can achieve effective damping with as little as 10% surface coverage. This tape is durable. It will resist moisture, weather, UV degradation and flame. It is a long aging, chemical resistant tape that offers good performance over a wide range of temperatures, particularly lower temperatures. It will perform in temperatures as low as -76°F/-60°C. The linered construction provides the ability to die cut this product.
Recommended Applications- Reduce unwanted resonant noise, vibration and fatigue in metal panels and support structures
- Lower temperature aerospace and industrial applications
- Chutes, conveyors, bins, metal shop boxes and tables where metal contact with materials can result in unwanted vibration
- General noise reduction applications
- Linered for die-cutting to match parts for aerospace - F.A.R. 25.853(a)
3M™ Vibration Damping Tape 435 features a pressure sensitive viscoelastic acrylic polymer adhesive which is optimized to convert vibrational energy to negligible heat that readily dissipates to help reduce irritating noise. It also reduces vibrational fatigue to decrease wear and tear on parts and lower the risk of part loosening and displacement. The adhesive is pressure sensitive for easy self-fixturing application.
