3M Removable Repositionable Tape 666 features a permanent medium-tack adhesive and a repositionable medium tack adhesive on a clear unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC) film carrier. It is commonly used in applications where one or both parts need to be repositioned or removed easily. A low density polyethylene (LDPE) liner adds stability for processing including hot wire cutting.

Versatility for On-Off and Open-Close Applications

Unlike many differential removable/repositionable tapes, 3M Removable Repositionable Tape 666 offers a unique combination of adhesives. It features a permanent medium tack 3M Acrylic Adhesive 400 on the liner side and 3M Repositionable Acrylic Adhesive 1070 on the face side. The Adhesive 400 provides good temperature performance and peel strength, making it ideal for bonding a wide variety of materials such as metals, glass, wood, papers, paints, and plastics. On the other hand, Adhesive 1070 holds well to many surfaces and allows for clean removal without leaving any adhesive residue or causing delamination.

The tape is constructed with a UPVC film carrier, which enhances its handling and strength, while also providing dimensional stability. Additionally, the low density polyethylene liner further contributes to the tape's excellent die cutting and laminating capabilities, as well as its ability to handle hot wire cutting.

Two Adhesives for Precise Applications

3M Acrylic Adhesive 400 is a medium-firm pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive system. It offers a balance of good initial adhesion and shear holding power. This adhesive provides a consistently strong bond, high temperature performance (up to 250F/121C), and good peel strength on various surfaces.

3M Repositionable Acrylic Adhesive 1070 is a medium tack adhesive used on the face side of the tape. It allows for a secure, temporary seal, enabling the removal, repositioning, or replacement of joined surfaces as needed. This adhesive ensures clean removal from oils, films, and other surfaces without leaving any adhesive residue.

What is Double Coated Tape?

Double coated tape is a type of tape that consists of a carrier (paper, film, or tissue) coated on both sides with pressure sensitive adhesive. The adhesive is protected by a peel-away liner, which can be removed during application or left in place until the joining surfaces are ready to be attached.
