PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the Scotch-Brite Radial Bristle Disc used for?
The Scotch-Brite Radial Bristle Disc is used for deburring, finishing, cleaning and polishing. It can be used on a wide range of metals like brass, aluminum, stainless steel among others.
-
How long does it last?
The 3M™ 3 in x 3/8 in Scotch-Brite™ Radial Bristle Disc typically lasts longer than traditional sanding discs! On average, each disc should give you between 10 to 50 hours of use depending on the application. So you won't need to replace them very often.
-
Can it be reused or washed?
Yes! These radial bristle discs are designed with ceramic abrasive grain particles that do not break down and attract dust during usage. As such they can be cleaned using air blasts or running water after usage therefore increasing their longevity helping save customers money over time!
-
Is there any prep work I will need if I want to get started with this product?
The only prep work needed before beginning working with your new radial bristle disc would depend on what/how you plan to use it as these come color-coded based on grit level finer grits (for a polish-type finish) may require rougher "scratching" prior surfaces etc but generally speaking no additional processes outside mounting onto an appropriate spindle-mounting system would be necessary.
Scotch-Brite™ Radial Bristle Disc
Under normal use, the flexible bristles on the Scotch-Brite™ Radial Bristle Disc remain safely in place and can achieve the desired finish using light pressure. This disc is designed to last longer than wire and other abrasive discs and works well on aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and other metals. It is used for general industrial, aerospace, automotive, metalworking, transportation, and automotive applications.
3M™ Ceramic Aluminum Oxide Blend
3M™ ceramic aluminum oxide blend is a ceramic mineral designed using a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain for a higher level performance. Ceramic aluminum oxide blend is engineered to fracture frequently and surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in both cut-rate and durability. Perfect for moderate to heavy stock removal as well as finishing, ceramic abrasives are built to cut fast and handle intense heat and stress applications.
Scotch-Brite™ Abrasives
Scotch-Brite™ abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven fiber matrix. Combining abrasives and non-woven material creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.
