Cold Temperature Durability

3M Vibration Damping Tape 434 is a high-quality tape designed to reduce noise and absorb vibration in metal and composite panels and support structures. With a thickness of 7.5 mil, this tape is made of silver, dead soft aluminum foil backed material. It offers effective damping with as little as 10% surface coverage, making it a cost-effective solution for noise reduction.

This tape is highly durable and can withstand various environmental conditions. It is resistant to moisture, weather, UV degradation, and flame. It is also a long aging and chemical resistant tape, ensuring good performance over a wide range of temperatures, especially in lower temperature environments. In fact, it can perform in temperatures as low as -76F/-60C, making it suitable for cold temperature applications.

The linered construction of this tape provides the ability to easily die cut it, allowing for precise matching of parts in aerospace applications that comply with F.A.R. 25.853(a) regulations.

Recommended Applications
  • Reduce unwanted resonant noise, vibration, and fatigue in metal panels and support structures
  • Lower temperature aerospace and industrial applications
  • Chutes, conveyors, bins, metal shop boxes, and tables where metal contact with materials can result in unwanted vibration
  • General noise reduction applications
  • Linered for die-cutting to match parts for aerospace applications - F.A.R. 25.853(a)
Reduce Noise and Fatigue

3M Vibration Damping Tape 434 features a pressure-sensitive viscoelastic acrylic polymer adhesive. This adhesive is specially optimized to convert vibrational energy into negligible heat, effectively reducing irritating noise. By absorbing and dissipating vibration, this tape also helps to reduce vibrational fatigue, decreasing wear and tear on parts and lowering the risk of part loosening and displacement.

The adhesive is pressure-sensitive, allowing for easy self-fixturing application. This means that the tape can be easily applied to various surfaces without the need for additional tools or equipment.
