PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the difference between Filament-Reinforced Electrical Tape and regular electrical tape?

The primary difference between filament-reinforced electrical tape like 3M™ Filament-Reinforced Electrical Tape 46, and traditional electrical tapes is that it has added strength due to its embedded glass filaments. This makes it an ideal choice for heavy-duty applications where high tensile strength is required.

  2. Does this tape come in different widths or colors?

Yes! While 3M™ Filament-Reinforced Electrical Tape 46 does not come in different colors, it does come in several widths ranging from .5 inches to 4 inches to best suit your individual needs.

  3. Can I use this tape outdoors or will it degrade over time?

Absolutely! The unique properties of our filament-reinforced tape make it highly resistant to UV rays as well as temperature changes up to approximately 150°F. That makes our tape a great solution for outdoor jobs!

  4. Can I use this product on any type of surface?

For the most part, yes – although we always recommend doing some testing before committing fully. Our customers have used this reinforced taping with success on most substrates including plastic, metal, wood and even concrete surfaces; making sure there is proper cleaning done first before application.
