Product Description: 3M E-A-R Classic Ear Plugs OCS1137

More than 40 years ago, the 3M E-A-R Classic Ear Plugs OCS1137 revolutionized hearing protection in the workplace. As the world's first foam ear plug, it quickly became one of the most widely used earplugs globally. These ear plugs are constructed from slow-recovery, low-pressure foam, which allows them to fit snugly and create a noise barrier, protecting the wearer's hearing from loud sounds.

The 3M E-A-R Classic Ear Plugs OCS1137 are designed to be both easy to fit and comfortable for extended wear. They are stiff enough when compressed to facilitate easy insertion, yet soft enough to provide a comfortable fit in the ear. The bright yellow color of these ear plugs allows supervisors to conduct quick visual checks for hearing protection compliance.

These ear plugs are recommended for various applications, including chipping, chiseling, drilling, furnace operations, grinding, heavy equipment operations, machining, pouring/casting, power fastening, riveting, sanding, sawing, and welding. They are commonly used in industries such as agriculture, automotive, chemicals, construction, general manufacturing, healthcare, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals.

The 3M E-A-R Classic Ear Plugs OCS1137 are regular-sized earplugs that comfortably fit most people. They have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 29 dB, CSA Class AL. These earplugs can be fit tested with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System, ensuring proper fit and effectiveness. Additionally, their moisture resistance helps maintain a consistent fit, even in humid conditions.

Noise is a prevalent factor in our daily routines, and millions of Americans are exposed to hazardous noise in their workplaces every day. According to estimates from the National Institutes of Health, approximately 15 percent of Americans (26 million people) between the ages of 20 and 69 have high-frequency hearing loss due to noise exposure at work or during leisure activities. However, hearing loss caused by noise is almost entirely preventable through consistent use of hearing protection.

It is important to note that 3M strongly recommends fit testing of hearing protectors. Research suggests that users may receive less noise reduction than indicated by the NRR due to variations in hearing protector fit, fitting skill, and user motivation. If the NRR is used, 3M recommends reducing it by 50% or following applicable regulations.
