3M Super Duty Rubbing Compound is an aggressive compound that removes 1000 and finer sand scratches on all types of paint surfaces and gelcoats. This compound remains wet on the job with little or no mess, maintains high rate of cut with constant pressure and buffs to high gloss with minimum effort. It can be used by hand or machine.

    The 3M™ Super Duty Rubbing Compound, 05955, is mainly used for removing heavy sand scratches and oxidation on medium to hard paint finishes.

    This product comes in a one-gallon bottle weighing about 10.6 lb. Four bottles are included in each case.

  3. Can I use this rubbing compound by hand or machine only?

    Both ways should work fine! However, using a machine would be more efficient and will help produce better results compared to manual application.

  4. How long does it last? Does it need any special storage requirements after opening?

    If stored under normal conditions - away from heat sources and direct sunlight - unopened compounds can last up to five years from the production date. Once opened, we recommend using them within one year for best results. There are no other special requirements needed upon opening.

  5. Is this product environmentally friendly?

    Generally speaking, rubbing compounds like this aren't "green" products because they may contain solvents that could be harmful if released into the environment. However, we consistently review our formulas to ensure their safety when handled properly according to their intended applications/uses.
