Electrical Tapes
We have 10 types of electrical tapes in stock from brands 3M™ Temflex™ Scotch® that are used to insulate electrical elements. These high quality tapes act as a protection to the material they are applied too because of their resistance capabilities towards corrosion and moisture.Electrical Tapes Available
There are numerous types of electrical tapes for different applications which are majorly dependent on the type of material they are made of. At Slip Stream 24/7 we stock.
These tapes are made of acetate cloth with the coating of rubber adhesives and acrylics. Acetate Cloth tapes have high insulation capabilities and are mainly used as coil covers. We have 16 acetate cloth tapes in stock in different sizes and thicknesses.
These tapes are made of woven cotton cambric fabric with a coating of insulating varnish. Cambric Cloth tapes have great tensile strength and can withstand high temperatures. We have 12 cambric cloth tapes in stock in different sizes and thicknesses.
These tapes are made of an epoxy film with rubber adhesive. Epoxy tapes have less stretch and excellent strength and resistance. We have 18 epoxy cloth tapes in stock in different sizes and thicknesses.
These tapes are made of polypropylene film and fiberglass threads. Filament Reinforced tapes have the ability to resist rough conditions and last for longer times. We have 61 filament reinforced tapes in stock in different sizes and thicknesses.
Glass Cloth Electrical Tapes are used for typical applications including permanent sealing of high temperature ducts, sealing acoustic and thermal insulation panels, flame retardant applications, aircraft window sealing and many more. We have 50 tapes in stock with various sizes, thicknesses, and rolls that will be able to match your requirements.
Polyester film tape is a flexible yet stable material that provides surface protection and electrical insulation for products and is often used in packaging. The nature of the material provides resistance to high temperatures and UV light. We have well over a 100 tapes in stock with various sizes, thicknesses, and rolls.
These tapes are mostly used as insulation including a capacitor and transformer insulation, coil insulation, and magnetic wire insulation. Another application it is useful for is during powder coatings when it can be used as a temperature mask. You can choose between the 73 polyimide electrical tapes we available.
PTFE tape is a Teflon plastic polymer. that acts as an electrical insulator. Due to its excellent lubrication and it’s ability to tighten the seal on a pipe, it’s a favorite tape for plumbers, as they commonly use it to lubricate and seal threaded pipe fittings.
Rubber tapes are designed for use in splicing and terminating wires and cables with options rated up to 69kV. They have excellent physical and electrical properties such as being fire retardent and are ideal for adding moisture protection and padding to electrical connections and cables. We have 38 rubber electrical tapes available from 3M™ Temflex™ Scotch®.
These are pressure-sensitive tapes that are also referred to as insulating tape. They are incredibly useful tapes that are used to insulate electrical wires and other materials that conduct electricity. Our vinyl electrical tapes are weather proof, fire-retardent, and have great moisture resistance which is what you would expect due to the applications they are used for. We have 71 tapes available from 3M™ Temflex™ Scotch®.
Benefits of the Electrical Tapes
Following are some of the benefits or use cases of electrical tapes:
- It creates an insulation barrier between the exposed cords or wires, ultimately avoiding scenarios of an electrical fire.
- It provides better coverage and adjustment because of its capability to stretch.
- It lasts long due to the type of materials it’s made of and provides consistent protection.
Important Considerations
Although electrical tapes hold great and vast benefits, there are some important considerations to be made about their working. These include:
- The electrical tapes provide consistent insulation. However, it’s necessary to note that they are not the permanent solution to the exposed or broken wires.
- Different types of electrical tapes have different ranges of temperature tolerance. It’s important to consider the potential temperature range before choosing the right electrical tape.
- All types of electrical tapes have specified use cases and features. For best outcomes, it’s important to evaluate all and choose the type of tape that handles most of the requirements.
