This belt is versatile and can be used across various industries including metalworking, woodworking, and automotive refinishing. It's great for preparing surfaces before painting or finishing.
Introducing the Standard Abrasives Surface Conditioning FE Belt, specially designed for edge work, high contact pressure, and stock removal. This belt features a more compact structure of non-woven fibers compared to Buff & Blend products, allowing for high initial and extended rates of cut while maintaining edge durability. Constructed with resin-reinforced, non-woven fiber, the FE belt is aggressive yet minimizes under-cutting or gouging of the workpiece. Among the Standard Abrasives line of surface conditioning belts, the FE belt performs exceptionally well on edges.
Tough and Flexible Nylon MeshThe FE belts are made of a tough but flexible nylon mesh that conforms to any contoured surface. We have designed the FE material with a woven fabric (scrim) embedded in the nylon structure to provide additional strength and durability. This unique design extends the life of the belt and allows for extended use on ferrous materials or steel. When high contact pressure and stock removal are required, and loading is not a concern, the FE belt is the best surface conditioning material to use.
Outstanding Performance of Surface Conditioning MaterialSurface conditioning products have a non-woven construction consisting of fiber strands, resin, and abrasive mineral that form a thick, open web or mesh. The spring-like nature of the fibers allows them to respond to contours effectively, removing unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece. This reduces rework and boosts productivity. The gaps in the web allow heat and swarf to escape, prolonging the performance of the abrasive. Additionally, the fibers in the web continually break down with use, revealing fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and an extremely long service life.
Aluminum Oxide for Ferrous Metals and CompositesThe fibers of the FE belt are overlaid with aluminum oxide abrasive. Aluminum oxide belts are known for their all-purpose versatility and economy, making them a good match for operators. The mineral cuts fast while blending and deburring, making it an excellent choice for applications on ferrous metals and composites. FE belts feature a premium grain with higher fracture strength, meaning the mineral will fragment and renew more readily. They are available in grades of Very Fine (VFN), Medium (MED), and Coarse (CRS).
Recommended ApplicationsThe Surface Conditioning FE Belt is available in various widths and lengths, making it suitable for use on pneumatic sanders, portable belt sanders, backstand equipment, and floor mounted/platen sanders. Its thick coating of resin makes it ideal for material removal where loading is not an issue. Choose this belt for deburring tasks such as removing large and micro burrs, edge radiusing, and removing die cast flashings. It is also effective for blending applications, including removing mill marks, tool marks, and mismatches, reducing uneven edges between adjoining surfaces, reorienting surface scratch patterns, and creating a smooth transition from one surface profile to another.
