The 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Slip Resistant Tapes and Treads Series 500 is a high-friction, slip-resistant material that has a special aluminum backing. This backing allows the material to conform around corners and adhere to irregular surfaces. The product is ideal for use on diamond grade safety plates, steps, and ladder rungs, as well as heavy equipment and vehicles. Custom sizes and custom adhesives are also available.
The National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) has certified the 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Slip Resistant Tapes and Treads Series 500 as providing “high-traction.” NFSI has chosen a wet static coefficient of friction (SCOF) of greater than 0.60 as the criteria for “high traction.” According to NFSI, floor surfaces maintaining this level of slip resistance when wet have proven to reduce slip-and-fall claims by between 50% and 90%.
